Doctor Who has been in the public consciousness for over half a century. The BBC has produced 35 seasons (and counting) of it during that time. Twelve very different actors have each successfully brought the title character to life. The program is regularly broadcast in no less than 50 countries; its 50th anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor,” was seen in a Guinness record making 94.

We feel safe in declaring Doctor Who an extraordinary TV series, by the truest definition of that word.

inDoctornated is a documentary based on the idea that Doctor Who, being an extraordinary television series, shapes extraordinary people. We’ll find four fans living within the continental United States, travel to each of them, and document their lives as people who’ve been inspired by Doctor Who to somehow make a difference in the world around them.

See, in addition to our love of Doctor Who, we also admire the people who obsess over it. We love their passion, ingenuity, and their desire to make the world a better place. People such as that are undoubtedly worth documenting, be they Who fan or not…but we're narrowing the playing field for our own purposes.

Unlike some other sci-fi fandom documentaries, we aren't looking for social outcasts at which to gently poke fun for the amusement of others. We're looking for confident, complex, witty fans with stories to share – stories that will move, inspire, and, if we really get it right, connect with viewers who've never even watched Doctor Who. That's part of the goal: To make a documentary about some Doctor Who fans that you don’t have to be a Doctor Who fan to appreciate.
